Bioinformatics & Computational Sciences Diploma
A six-course, live-online diploma designed to build strong foundations in computational science and bioinformatics, develop practical data-analysis skills, and progress into advanced multi-omics and a chosen specialization.
One diploma. Two ways to progress.
Both tracks cover the same six-course curriculum and follow the same academic requirements. Choose the pace that best fits your schedule.
Accelerated Track — 3 Semesters
Complete the programme at a faster pace.
Standard Track — 4 Semesters
Spread the coursework across four semesters.
Explore the five core courses
Explore each course to learn about its content, objectives, prerequisites and assessment requirements.
Introduction to Computational Thinking and Data Science
Build a foundation in computational thinking and data science for scientific problem-solving, including introductory programming logic and reproducible analytical practice.
Assessment: Quizzes and course assessments.
Introduction to Bioinformatics
Explore biological data, core bioinformatics concepts, sequence information, databases and introductory analytical workflows.
Assessment: Quizzes, course assessments and a final project.
Data Analytics and Visualization Using R
Develop practical R skills for scientific data handling, exploratory analysis, visualization and reproducible reporting.
Assessment: Quizzes, course assessments and a final project.
NGS Data Analysis
Learn the principles and practical workflow of next-generation sequencing analysis, from quality control through data interpretation.
Assessment: Quizzes, course assessments and a final project.
Multi-Omics Data Analysis
Progress into data-specific and integrative approaches for analysing, visualizing and interpreting multiple omics datasets.
Assessment: Quizzes, course assessments and a final project.
Recordings: Lecture recordings are available to enrolled students after each live session.
Certificates: Successfully completed courses qualify for an individual Aurum course certificate. The diploma is awarded after completing the full programme requirements.
Choose one specialization
In the final stage of the diploma, choose one Selected Topics course that best matches your interests and professional or research goals. You do not need to select your specialization when you first enroll.
You’ll choose your specialization later, before Semester 3.
